Overview
This article will guide you on the process of downloading and saving the config file from Exinda.
Information
Exinda Config File Types
There are 2 types of Exinda Config files:
- Binary;
- Text (recommended).
Cases Where a Config File Is Needed
A config file is needed in the following situations:
- Hardware upgrade;
- RMA;
- Disk replacement;
- Remanufacture;
- Diagnostics by TAC;
- Firmware upgrade.
Process
Follow the steps below to download and save the config file.
- Go to Configuration > System > Maintenance (or System > Maintenance if using v6).
- On the Manage Config tab, find the configuration you wish to export. The current active config is the one with a green checkmark in front of it.
- Click the save icon in the Download column to get the prompt to download a .txt file to your local system. This .txt file contains all the CLI commands to replicate the config, much like a
show
run command. You can also save the config as a binary file by clicking on the filename.
Generally, users configure Exinda once and the config file does not have to be changed repeatedly. Hence simply use the steps above to save the config file locally after making a change. If for any reason a backup is required periodically, a scheduled job can also be set up on the Exinda.
It is strongly recommended that users:
- Keep a copy of their config file somewhere safe.
- Save the config file as a text file.
