Overview
When editing configuration on the Exinda, it might be possible not to start the optimizer due to a licensing misconfiguration.
When working on an Exinda appliance, any configuration change to the optimizer or objects in the device that is used requires the optimizer to restart in order to apply the new changes.
In cases when the Optimizer is turned on or restarted, a message displayed with a red background is showed: ERROR. This message is shown instead of the normally expected 'ON'.
In this case, the optimizer will be turned off and nothing will be shaped. This error is a notification for the administrators.
Error Logs:
mgmtd[2087]: [mgmtd.WARNING]: The inbound bandwidth for circuit [circuit name] exceeds the licensed limit. You will not be able to start optimizer.
Root Cause
Every time the Exinda Optimizer runs its startup process it checks the license and compares the circuit bandwidth to that of the licensed limit on any active and valid license on the device.
If the circuit bandwidth is less than the maximum licensed shaping/control bandwidth, the optimizer will turn on. If not, the Optimizer shows the error above.
Resolution
- Check the circuit bandwidth; if it has been changed recently, compare it with the maximum license and see if something has changed in the license information or an incorrect value has been entered in the circuit bandwidth.
- Make sure the following pattern is used for configuration:
For V6 > 1KB = 1024B
For V7 > 1KB = 1000B
NOTE: If the error occurs when the bandwidth of the circuits is less than that of the maximum control bandwidth of an active and valid license on the device, contact Exinda support.
