Overview
This article troubleshoots when the optimizer does not start and you are getting the message "Error: Cannot ‘Show Policies’, Optimizer is not ON."
Solution
- The optimizer will fail to start when the circuit bandwidth exceeds the maximum license bandwidth and will log the following warning message from the mgmtd process:
[mgmtd.WARNING]: The inbound bandwidth for circuit Default exceeds the licensed limit. You will not be able to start optimizer
Check the log for this warning message by going to Configuration > System > Logging > View in the WebUI or you can view the messages file in a sysdump. If you find this warning, please configure the circuit bandwidth to ensure it does not exceed the maximum license bandwidth.
Note: Please refer to the Bitrates in Exinda article to reference how Exinda calculates 1Mbps = 1000 Kbps (instead of 1024 Kpbs). For example, if your license is 10G, the bandwidth should be 10,000,000 kbps. - If the Optimizer still fails, please contact a support agent to ensure the Host ID of the Exinda matches the licensing server.

Agent Only Note:
Please refer to the Certificate/License Host ID is Wrong article to change the Host ID within the Exinda License Database (EBS).

Testing
Check to see if the error message still occurs and whether the optimizer is now functioning as intended.
