Exinda can analyze the system reboot count. Whenever an unexpected shutdown event is triggered and if the SMTP server is configured, Exinda generates the automatic email with the following description:
Unexpected reboot of host <hostname> System was not shut down normally. An unexpected restart has occured more than 5 times in an hour
Additionally, System Information about Exinda appliance is being provided, including version, uptime, model, and host ID details.
This article provides clarifications about such reboot Email alerts.
Exinda has a hard-coded THRESHOLD_LIMIT value of 5. If the unexpected reboots occurred more than 5 times per hour, the above email notice is being generated.
The similar email alerts are being triggered if the Exinda is rebooted more than 5 times per day or per week. Once the email is sent to the preconfigured email address, the reboot count is reset.
The common reason behind the reboot event is reaching peak values for RAM, due to continuous traffic generated. On the TCP health graphs section of the PDF report, you might see a high number of Aborted and Rejected connections coming from External sources, as well as a High number of Aborted connections on the Internal hosts. If that is the case, please refer to DDoS Attempts Causing Collectord to Crash the Exinda.
For more information about unexpected restarts, please review Reasons for Unexpected Shutdowns or Restarts.
If you need further assistance to identify the Root Cause of reboots, please contact Exinda Support.
Important: include sysdumps for your Exinda crash and 7-days PDF report with all options selected.
