Overview
When it's required to view Interfaces accessibility logs about the interface going down/up, certain logging should be enabled.
The interface's disconnection status can be seen if the System Alerts are configured accordingly.
This article provides information on how to enable logs for network interface failures.
Solution
- Make sure Configuration > System > Logging > Setup > Local Log Filtering level is set to
Notice
[or any higher level like INFO or DEBUG] so that logs can show all the events. - Enable Bridge link alert in Configuration > System > Setup > Alerts
Testing
Once the Interface cable is disconnected, the following log entry is generated:
Jul 1 18:42:15 EXINDA statsd[2801]: [statsd.NOTICE]: alarm 'bridge_link': triggered for falling error for event bridge_link
Red Warning indication under System Health will be shown and by clicking it you will see a Bridge Link alert triggered.
Under the System > Network > Setup section you will see the port that went down and it should have updated Link Status: Link DOWN
.
