Overview
When using Exinda appliances to allocate bandwidth for a Citrix Xen VDI Infrastructure, there are varying bandwidths that should be taken into account for different activities. This article provides general information on this matter and the estimated bandwidths for certain applications.
Information
- Performing control and shaping on thin client traffic, i.e., traffic which has a heavy 'remote' presence where most of the operation is done on a computer remote from the terminal location, is a proposition which is necessary for a lot of virtual infrastructures.
- Many environments utilize Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) to provide users' desktops over a server environment.
-
Exinda devices can be used to ensure that each VDI desktop will get appropriate bandwidth.
- However, different activities can use different amounts of bandwidth. Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) and other thin client protocols are built to use a limited amount of bandwidth to preserve link integrity while keeping user experience high.
- The following is a list of activities and their respective bandwidths on Xen Desktop, a VDI system from Citrix.:
