Summary
When using v6.4.7, when clicking on the "Check for Updates" link located on the Firmware Install page, it does not show that there are any updates to the firmware.Overview
On the Configuration > System > Maintenance, "Firmware Install" page, there is a link to Check For Updates. This contacts the Exinda repository and looks for any new updates to the firmware since the last install performed on the box. When running v6.4.7 and this link is checked, the result comes back as "No New Updates Found", even though v6.4.7 was released in March of 2015 and there are other versions of the firmware out later.Cause
v6 and v7 of the Exinda firmware are considered separate 'lines' of firmware, and to move from v6.4.7 (the latest in the v6 path) to anything in v7, it is considered an "upgrade", not an "update". This is because the process that is involved with turning the v6 path into the v7 path is extensive; processes are changed, other ones added, the UI changes, there are reporting changes and data collection changes. Though there are versions of v7 firmware that have been released since v6.4.7 and are 'new', they are not considered when clicking on the "Check for Latest Updates" link if you are on v6.Resolution
To upgrade to v7 from v6, it must be manually invoked by using the "Install Firmware..." box on the same page. This allows the administrator to take an image file - either locally from a computer or by URL, accept the EULA and click the "Install Image" button to begin the process. This can be scheduled to be done (and rebooted) at a later time.
Additional Information
?The latest version of the v7 line is v7.0.3 update 1, with v7.4 releasing in late October 2015.
