Summary
In the Exinda, it is possible to change the system name after it has initially been set.Overview
The host name of the Exinda is what allows for the device to be identified through web addressing in both private and public settings, when given to DNS servers. It is likewise how interanlly, the devices are identified amongst each other in Exinda communities or even by administrators. In the Exinda, going to Configuration > System > Network, and going to the "DNS" tab, there is an entry for the host name of the system. This can be changed. When it is changed, it is possible that the web UI will become unavailable for a time. This is due to the fact that when the name is changed, the Exinda appliance has to regenerate its self signed SSL certificate with the new name; this means that the current connection to the Web UI will be considered 'untrusted'. Clearing the browser cache will help.
In some cases, it is necessary for the appliance to be rebooted in order to ensure a proper name change. If running into problems with a name change, please contact Exinda TAC.
